The prints offered are
original Chromo prints published in 1903 for the Bureau of American Ethnology.
Labeled on the upper left hand margin is, " Bureau of American Ethnology", On
the top right is printed " Twenty-First Annual Report. PL--". On the lower right
hand margin is
"Heliotype Co,. Boston".
The image size is 5 1/4" x 8
1/2", Page size is 7 1/4" x 11".
They are in Very Good condition and have the
even age toning
that you would hope to find in a prints of this age.
In 1899, these images were drawn and coloured by native Hopi
artists,
chosen and commissioned by Jessie Walters Fewkes,
the authority
in Hopi Indian affairs.
They were published in 1903 in the rarest and
most expensive of all the BAEs (because of the desirability of these prints).
They have excellent colors, very bright and vivid.
The image is very
sharp and clear, showing the amazing detail of the dolls.
The images show
this lovely and authentic detail.
They are 95 YEARS OLD.
